On February 5, 1990, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, to parents who were from the Bulandshahr village of Luharli. His father, Kiran Pal Singh Mavi, works for the Uttar Pradesh Police, while his mother, Indresh Mavi, stays at home.
Rekha Adhana, his older sister, is seven years his senior. When he was 13 years old, his sister took him to a cricket training facility 7-8 kilometers from their house and followed him there frequently till he could go there by himself.

• Whatever knuckle ball I have bowled, I wanted batsmen to go after that. That way, you can get wickets, and that’s one of the main reasons why I have been successful in power plays.
